Lavoie's Photography was established in 1976 when Bryan native Rex Lavoie returned to the area from California. Since that time Rex has become only the second Master of Photography in the Bryan area and received the Photographic Craftsman degree. He is the only photographer in Northwest Ohio to receive the Master of Electronic Imaging degree from the Professional Photographer of America. He has also been recognized as a Certified Professional Photographer by the Professional Photographers of Ohio. Rex has served as president of the Professional Photographers of Northwest Ohio, president of the Professional Photographers of Ohio and served on several committees in the Professional Photographers of America. He and his wife Peg have spoken around the country on subjects relating to the operation of a commercial photographic studio in a rural area. Rex is also a qualified photographic juror for the Professional Photographers of America.

Rex's work has been awarded many honors including the Kubiac Award for the most creative image in the Ohio exhibition twice, the Central Ohio Commercial Award twice, a Fuji Film Masterpiece Award and four Kodak Gallery Awards for photographic excellence. His work has been displayed at the Kodak Exhibit at Epcot and has appeared on the cover of the Professional Photographers Magazine and the PPA Loan Collection coffee table book.

The studio is located just south of Bryan, which is 60 miles west of Toledo and 45 miles east of Fort Wayne, Indiana. While in a rural area Lavoie's Photography's work is not limited to that area. They have traveled to locations in most of the eastern United States as well as several western areas.

Some of Lavoie's clients are Spangler Candy Co., Airmate, Bard Manufacturing Co., Ohio Art, Tru-Fast Corp., Robinair Division of SPX Corp., Gilliam Candy Brands, Chase Brass and Copper, and Gendron.
